Welcome to Weird Erie

Weird Erie begins. Step into the fog…

Where the fog never quite lifts, and the past lingers like a whisper.

Weirderie.com is just beginning to take shape—an evolving archive of Erie’s forgotten corners, haunted histories, and roadside oddities. From vanished amusement parks to crumbling bridges and stories that never made the history books, we’re here to unearth the eerie, the overlooked, and the oddly beautiful.

Weird Erie is run by three lifelong locals with a shared love of the strange:

  • Rook, an avid road-tripper and birder, brings a deep background in family history research and once served as president of a small local historical society in SWPA. She runs the website and Instagram account, always chasing the next forgotten landmark.

  • Jo-Jo, who holds a Master’s in History, explores Erie County with his family and a keen eye for stories that slip through the cracks. He helps shape our social media presence with curiosity and care.

  • Smyrill, our tech guru and metaphysical enthusiast, keeps Weird Erie running behind the scenes. He’s always exploring—digitally and spiritually—and helps bring the uncanny to life online.

New content is brewing daily, so check back often as we expand our map of the strange. While we conjure up our full social media presence, you can follow our journey (and get sneak peeks) over on:

  • Instagram: @weirderie814, and

  • Bluesky: @weirderie.bsky.social.

This is only the beginning. The weird is waiting.
